Drinking water does not cool a dog down sufficiently. They pant when they are hot because they are trying to lose heat, not because they are thirsty. When they take on water, their tongue heats it up and they take warm water into an already overheated body. Dogs can only sweat through their paws and tongue......they don't have all over body sweat glands like we do. As they stand on their paws this is not a very efficient heat loss system and they can overheat and die very quickly. DO NOT LET YOUR DOGS GET HOT IN THE FIRST PLACE. The Temperature Guide above is so useful, please use it. My dogs all have Prestige Cool Coats which keep them safe and cool. Please note that I only recommend items that I have tried and tested (and I try everything that comes on to the market) and PRESTIGE are the only coats I recommend. Available from Bewdley Pet Supplies or online.
